Trainings/zone conferences

We spoke to Elder Wold on April 1st and they’ve had a great week! One of their investigators came to church for the 2nd time last Sunday! He has learned this week that as they are using their time wisely, things are going really well in their area. He has found that companionship study goes really well when they each ask specific questions and then sincerely listen to each other’s responses.

They also had zone conferences and by the end of them, all the companionships in the mission had a chance to train their fellow missionaries on a topic of their choice, which were from previous trainings. Everyone learned so much from teaching each other!

Sis. Mansell wrote: “Zone Conference #3 : Bartlesville, Broken Arrow and Tulsa Zones. By the end of day 3 all 91 companionships in the OOCM has a chance to train their fellow missionaries on a topic of their choice. WHEW!!! What a long week!

All the topics were chosen from previous trainings given in the mission.  It was wonderful to hear a repeat of trainings given any time from last month to almost 2 years ago. They loved the chance to learn from each other and so did we!!”

Heyo!

Heyo!

This week was cool, we found some cool people to work with trying some potentials on our phone! We got like 3 yesterday who were open to us coming back and we only had like 2 hours to proselyte! The Lord was blessing us big time!!

I think something big that I learned this week from working with people is that we are never too far out of the Savior's grasp. Ever. There was an individual who just got baptized and was doing well but then went inactive because they made a mistake and felt like they couldn't come back becasue of it.

I think we all do this sometimes, we see how we mess up and then we try to do better but we keep messing up. Then as time goes on this process hurts and we feel that we are just out of reach of the Savior. I've experienced that myself. But I know two main things: 1. God expected us to mess up in this life, not only once or twice but over and over and over again. Obviously sin is not something we are proud of or should do on purpose but it is necessary in helping us learn and become better. We don't need to beat ourselves up for failing, just repent and try to be better. and
2. the Savior has already paid the price, for everything. Every single thing. He's already taken upon Him everything, so when we think we are out of reach of the Savior, we really are misunderstanding His sacrifice for us. It's not like if you repent you can't ever make that mistake again, to expect that of us would never let us grow. Again He's already paid for everything past, present and future. So He doesn't expect us to never mess up, even in our small mistakes. But He does expect us to try and be better because of His gift to us, He expects us to be willing to become better and come unto Him.

This is just something I've been learning my whole mission that is kind of coming all together. Line upon line, precept upon precept... I don't nearly understand the Savior's atonement, but I'm learning!

Another great week!

We talked to Elder Wold today and he told us about the success they’re having with sharing the gospel. They talked to a guy on the street this week who ended up coming to church yesterday! They also were able to have a really great gospel discussion with another man. Elder Wold and Elder Vogt are working hard and are a great companionship!

Guess who Elder Wold’s new companion is????

Elder Wold’s new companion is Elder Vogt!!! (Pronounced vote)  This week Elder Wold told us that his most spiritual experience was helping Pres. Mansell with transfers and to watch as Pres. Mansell received inspiration on where missionaries needed to be. He also told about how some of the people he and Elder Kestner taught in Wagoner, have been baptized now.
Here’s some pictures from transfers, incoming missionaries, and from Sis. Wood’s dad, Mike Wood, who we know from Arizona.

A great phone call!

We’ve been able to talk to Elder Wold the last 2 Mondays, so it was nice to talk to him yesterday as well. He opted to call instead of write a letter. In his phone call he spoke of how they had exchanges and interviews this week as well as role-playing with Greenies and their trainers. He also got to see one of his favorite old companions, Elder Vogt! For p-day yesterday they went ice skating and had a great time!
