Hey hey hey! Got to love it here in Oklahoma!
Oh where to begin! Hmmmmmm
I did a lot more this week when it comes to planning and figuring out what we should do, (that can be kind of hard). My companion is awesome and has been pushing me. Of course I don't like it, but it's necessary to grow and to progress as a missionary.
I got to go on exchanges in Enid with a Marshallese speaking Elder. That was super interesting...
I had no clue what was going on all day with that language but I did learn something cool at a lesson. The family we taught were members except for the mom, who we were there to teach. Elder Watterson asked the man to bear his testimony and when he did the Spirit was so strong! I had no clue what he said, but I knew it was true! So that was a cool little tender mercy. Just proof that this gospel is so real and so important.
We'll come back to Saturday.
Sunday was pretty great too! Fast and testimony meeting was great and full of the Spirit. I can definitely say with a surety that power in a testimony really comes in sharing it and keeping it short. That leads to my most favorite part of the week and what I learned on Saturday.
Saturday, we had an all day event with all 200 missionaries in the mission meeting at the Moore building. We had a guest speaker who was actually really good friends with President Mansell. It was phenomenal and the way this guest speaker taught was fantastic! Instead of lecturing us, he had us ask questions and then he would answer them and ask us questions! And we had him all to ourselves for 3 hours! There, I truly learned how a testimony should be borne, it should be about the Father, the Son and or the Holy Ghost and the Restoration, and that it should be things we have come to know by the Spirit. Long super crazy stories aren't actually some requirement to a powerful testimony. I totally applied this on Sunday at testimony meeting and it was a great experience for me, I'd highly recommend it, especially because that's how he recommended it.
That night we had a new member firseside with that same guest speaker. There were so many people there, it was great! Same format of teaching, a lot of questions were asked and I know everybody learned.
(okay you can look at the pic now to see who the guest speaker was. It was more fun this way)
Both of these meetings, the one with us and the one with the new members was great! I truly know Elder Bednar is an apostle of the Lord! The Spirit was so strong and being in his presence was so amazing. I learned a lot about myself and what I need to be doing from both meetings and I am so grateful he was able to come! I truly loved his testimony, it was actually very simple and basic, no stories or anything, just what he knew to be true. But it had so much power to it. We were also blessed with an Apostolic blessing in both meetings and they were very powerful and heartfelt. What a blessing it was to have him there!
In Elder Bednar's fashion of testimony, here is what I've come to know by the Spirit:
I know that this church is truly run by Prophets and Apostles of the Lord. I know God cares about each and every one of us and does not forget a single person. He is a true source of confidence and power in our lives. I know that Christ is truly a way back to our Father in Heaven, as long as we turn to Him and seek Him in all we do. I believe Christ suffered for us and knows all of our pains and sufferings, and that he is the remedy for all our hardships here in this mortal state. And that as we follow Him and "look unto [Him] in every thought, doubt not, fear not" we will be able to have true joy and successfully and righteously "graduate from mortality".
Love you guys!
-Elder Wold
