A long letter!!!

Hello everyone! What a fun week! I have such a hard time emailing, there is so much I would love to share and talk about but emails simply don't ever do any of it justice!

This week was filled with finding, lessons, FHE, a sweet district council, exchanges in the boonies, and stake conference.

Tuesday we found this super cool young couple who are looking for a church and are super open to us coming by and teaching and attending our church! They have like a zoo over there with like 15 different animals, it's kind of crazy.

We also had a fun object lesson for FHE with an inactive family in the ward. We are getting to know them better and they're open to us coming over. So it's been super cool getting to know them and hearing their story. They have these two little girls that are just awesome! We also got to meet their crazy chickens who almost attacked me for invading their place.

We had our first district council this week and it went so well! We have 6 Elders and then the Hermanas in our district, it's so much fun. Everyone was so open about their areas and what they personally were working on for a goal for this transfer, there were so many great discussions going on! It's kind of cool too because everyone other than one of the Hermanas have been out 6 months or less. I'm one of the oldest (on the mission) in the district! So we all get along super well. We're all pretty athletic too so today being the first P-day together will be fun. We'll see if anyone can ball...

Elder Vogt and I got to go on exchanges to boonie towns in western Oklahoma. The two Elders we exchanged with came out on the mission with me so it was fun being with them. We split the area because it would've been stupid to have me go up and one of them go down, it's like a two hour drive there from OKC. They have the biggest area in the mission, to give you an idea they cover most of the western part of OK. We mostly stayed in Clinton where the apartment is, but we also went to Weatherford to do a baptism interview. The interview was so cool, it was just me and the 12 year old Austin and we just talked about him and his story/testimony for about an hour. His little brother got baptized the week before and the rest of the family is planning on being baptized too. I did my best to just weave the interview questions into the conversation since it would be just a boring interview otherwise. It was really cool and the Spirit was there. This young man is ready. I just realized while writing this that he gets baptized tonight at 6:30

We also had stake conference this weekend and it was way good. It was mainly focused on being selfless and magnifying your duties as a member. President Mansell gave a talk on being converted and how his goal for each of us missionaries out here is to still be active and converted in 20 years. Although this goal was made known to me since the first time I got off the plane and has been brought up many times, I had never appreciated it as much as I did when he gave the talk. I realized just how important this mission is and how it's preparing me for life. Such a cool opportunity and all the change and growth happens when we "lose ourselves" in the work.

I'm trying to be more selfless this week and do as one of the speakers on Saturday suggested about selfless service, "love out of your comfort zone". Sometimes it's hard to love people especially when you're trying to help them accept the best thing ever which is the gospel of Christ and they won't do it. But I plan on pushing myself this week by trying to "see with Spiritual eyes" who these people really are and how much my Heavenly Father cares about them.

Love you all! Thanks for being such great examples to me in my life!

Elder Wold
